What a ride! The iRacing Daytona 24 Hour – sim racing’s biggest endurance test – just wrapped up, and Full Send SimSport proved once again why we’re built for the long haul. Over 23,000 drivers worldwide tackled the virtual Daytona Speedway, swapping drivers through day and night on that famous 3.56-mile track with its steep banks and tricky turns. Pros like Max Verstappen have raced here, but for us Aussies, it’s all about team grit and fair play.
Inspired by the real Rolex 24’s history (think 1966’s freezing nights and Ford’s legendary wins), this event demands strategy, clean driving, and unbreakable support. That’s exactly our mission at Full Send: Compete at the top level with fairness, respect, and help for everyone. We empower women in motorsport, create a fun and inclusive vibe, and give every member room to grow, connect, and enjoy the thrill together.
GT3 Team: Gladys’ Unbreakable Spirit
Our Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, nicknamed “Gladys” (#325), started 22nd out of 37. Drivers Adam Thomas, Joshuah Hilder (team lead), Diane Feldman, Isaac Lannan, Aston Culf, Kyle Jones, and Ryley Oakes faced it all: early hits from ignoring yellow flags, a massive crash in West Horseshoe that dropped us from 11th to 19th (with 9 minutes of repairs!), thunderstorms risking power cuts, and a late tech glitch.
But we fought back! “Calm Kyle” Jones shone overnight with smooth, mistake-free laps. Diane Feldman delivered consistent, pro-level runs – a true example of empowering women in racing. Rookies Isaac, Aston, and Ryley (their first big event) nailed spotting duties, keeping us safe in traffic. Through 800 laps and just a few minor spins, Gladys charged to 6th at times and finished 8th. As Josh said: “Not flashy, not easy, but absolutely deserved.” This shows our values in action: Respect for the rules, support through chaos, and growth for all.
GTP Team: Herbie’s Wild Comeback
In the Porsche 963 GTP (“Herbie”), starting 10th out of 14, Nick Kearney (lead), Pancake, David, Liam, and Greg battled glitches from the start: A pre-race bug delayed us, Nick’s wheel failed in qualifying, and we got “fake damage” flags forcing extra pits. A night-time wreck cost 20+ minutes, ending podium hopes.
Yet, Herbie powered on! Newbie Pancake crushed 200+ laps flawlessly, while Greg drove through “tennis elbow” pain – pure heart. The chat stayed fun and supportive, with laughs over a glitchy stream showing us on the podium (even if it wasn’t real!). We finished 8th initially, but jumped to 7th after the winners were DQ’d for cheating. Nick nailed it: “Honesty wins out.” This highlights our commitment to fairness and team bonds that turn setbacks into stories.
What It Means for Full Send
These results – double top-10s in a field of thousands – prove endurance racing is about more than wins. It’s fairness (like that DQ reward), respect (no panic, all adapt), and inclusion (Diane’s standout role, rookies thriving). We raced clean, had fun in the tough moments, and grew as a crew.
Next up: Bathurst 12 Hour in February (iRacing) and March (OSR). Lessons from Daytona? Stronger setups, better teamwork.
New to sim racing? It’s easy to start – grab a wheel, join a race, feel the rush. We’re here to help everyone, especially women breaking into motorsport.
